As the move towards file based video storage becomes more pervasive, new opportunities are created for improving work flow in news gathering and remote broadcast operations. When you think about it, a digital ENG system, like the MRC MTX5000, is really a transmission system that can deliver live video at moderately high data rates from the field to the studio. By taking advantage of newly available options, the power of that transmission system can also be used to send pre-recorded video files in raw or edited form to the studio by encapsulating them as IP packets in an ASI stream. At the studio, the IPRX provides an efficient means of separating prerecorded video files from a live transmission stream.
